Green Lane Park is located in North-western Montgomery County and is 3400 acres with three lakes and several waterways. There are many fantastic picnic areas and most of them have charcoal grills for a barbeque. There are two playground areas for the young ones. One is a cool pirate ship and the other is an awesome fort. The park has two tennis courts which can be reserved for play, and an enclosed pavilion available only by reservation.
Fishing, pavilion rentals, weddings, educational classes, a free concert in the park series and other fun events are held throughout the year. Green Lane Park is open from 6:00 AM to Sunset daily with certain things running past that time. The Deep Creek Lake area has overnight campsites for family and group camping. I recommend reserving a spot if you are planning on camping. It can get full depending on the year as the area has a lot to offer.
The Hill Road Day Use Area has a picnic area, boat rentals and trails. The park itself offers over 25 miles of internal trails that cyclists, hikers and equestrians can enjoy. Unfortunately, swimming is not allowed in the park anymore. Pets are welcome as long as they are leashed and stay out of the water and the campground areas. Use the trails to see the beauty of Green Lane Park in every season. In the winter, the park offers ice skating, sledding, cross country skiing and ice fishing.
There are several places you can drive your horse trailer into if you are not close enough to ride to the park or one of the lucky few who live by the park. Green Lane Park even has jumps set up along the way so you can have extra fun on the trails. The park also connects to the Perkiomen trail which makes it easy to access by horseback from multiple locations. Green Lane Park offers overnight camping with your horse. There is a campground specifically for use with your horse. I suggest reservations as there is limited spaces available.
Green Lane Park is a very family-oriented place. So bring your entire family including your furry family members and have some fun.
